Conectăm Moldova
One year after the first #HCSP conference, we are once again bringing together the people who decide on, build and finance infrastructure in Romania’s Moldova region. This time, the focus is on every connection the region needs: motorways, metropolitan transport and investment.
Organised by Asociația #HaiCăSePoate, in partnership with Palas Iași.
From promises to a timetable
For decades, Romania’s Moldova region has waited for a motorway to connect it to the rest of the country. The first sections are now under construction, while others are still waiting to be tendered. How quickly they are completed will be decided over the next two to three years.
The “Conectăm Moldova” Regional Forum brings together central and local government, contractors, academia and civil society for a practical discussion: what is being built, at what pace, with what funding, and what each stakeholder can do to keep the deadlines on track.
Each panel starts from the actual status of the projects and ends with concrete next steps.
Four panels, one question: how do we connect the Moldova region
A7, A8, A13 and connecting the Moldova region to the future
The status of the three motorways linking the Moldova region to Muntenia, Transylvania and the Republic of Moldova: contracted sections, sections in tender, deadlines and risks. A discussion with representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the county councils along the routes and the contractors.
Civic leadership and regional development
What civil society can do when major projects fall behind schedule. The experience of pro-infrastructure civic associations in Romania and the role of the region’s county councils in speeding up investment.
The mobility of the future: monorail and metropolitan rail
How people will travel around the Iași metropolitan area ten years from now. The monorail pre-feasibility study, funded entirely by private donations, the links to the airport and the railway station, and the role of the municipalities around Iași.
Education, investment, the economy and EU funding
Infrastructure as an economic engine: what investment a motorway brings, what companies expect from the region, how universities are training the specialists that are needed, and which EU funding sources are still available.
Who will be in the room
Representatives of the Government and the Ministry of Transport, presidents of the county councils in the Moldova region, mayors from the Iași metropolitan area, infrastructure contractors and designers, university rectors, investors and civic organisations.
A year of action
In September 2025, the first #HCSP conference brought together political decision-makers from along the entire A8 motorway route, diplomats, the press and officials responsible for major road infrastructure. Since then, the association has followed up with concrete action:
- Autumn 2025A display island with 6 screens at Palas Iași, showing the real-time status of every section of the A8 motorway.
- February 2026The contract for Section 1 of the A8, Târgu Mureș – Miercurea Nirajului (22 km, funded through Romania’s Recovery and Resilience Plan), was awarded.
- March 2026The association signed the contract for the pre-feasibility study for the Iași monorail, funded by private donations and donated to the local administration.
- 24 April 202630 #HCSP members and volunteers protested at the entrance to Podu Iloaiei against the delays in the tenders for the sections in Iași County.
- 2026At the association’s initiative, three sets of traffic lights were installed in Podu Iloaiei, and traffic on the DN28 national road is now monitored automatically.
